About us

East Sweden Medtech is a joint initiative of Region Östergötland and Linköping University. The goal is to bring more innovations into healthcare that are linked to real needs and challenges, in order to address the challenges of the future.

We map and identify needs in the healthcare, which we match with innovations and research.

We collaborate with Region Kalmar County, Region Jönköping County, and the universities in our neighboring regions. We also have close cooperation with the business community through industry organizations such as Swedish Medtech, Sweden Bio, the Pharmaceutical Industry Association, as well as the regional business and innovation support organizations. East Sweden Medtech drives MedTech4Health within the southeastern healthcare region.

The work within East Sweden Medtech is led by a steering group driven by Region Östergötland and Linköping University, with representation from both the business community and the southeastern healthcare region. Operationally, the activities are conducted by an office located at Linköping University Hospital.

Founders

East Sweden Medtech was founded in 2020 by Linköping University and Region Östergötland. The purpose of the initiative is to make it easier for the healthcare industry to introduce new solutions to meet identified needs by applying the triple helix model of innovation.

Steering committee

East Sweden Medtech’s steering committee includes regional political leaders, deans and vice chancellors from LiU, a development director and research director from Region Östergötland, as well as representatives from industry. The committee aims to bring together regional and national experts with shared competence, knowledge and authority in the political sphere and our three cornerstones – healthcare, academia and industry.
